Most of you have heard me say at one time or another that my favorite subject in the Bible is the favor of God.

I not only enjoy studying it, but I especially enjoy living in it. My life is a constant testimony of living in the favor of God.

Recently, as I was spending time in the Word, I came across a phrase that just seemed to jump out at me. Its found in Psalm 5:11-12 from the Passion Translation:

But let them all be glad, those who turn aside to hide themselves in You. May they keep shouting for joy forever! Overshadow them in Your presence as they sing and rejoice. Then every lover of Your name will burst forth with endless joy. Lord, how wonderfully You bless the righteous. Your favor wraps around each one and covers them under Your canopy, of kindness and joy.

When I read that, the Holy Spirit spoke in my spirit the phrase, I CAN LIVE UNDER THE CANOPY OF GODS FAVOR!”

We all know that from time to time, we will face what appears to be impossible-looking situations. Satan is constantly trying our faith” as Peter described in 1 Peter 1:7. Jesus tells us in John 10:10 that our adversary the devil is constantly endeavoring to steal, kill and destroy.”

Even while storms and chaos rage around you, you can rest in the fact that God has provided a way for you to live in His protection and provision.

A few years ago, I was riding my motorcycle with one of my grandchildren on the back. We were miles from the nearest town when the sky turned dark and a massive storm formed. Within just a few minutes it began to hail. At just the right time there was an overpass that I was able to stop under. Praise God, we were safe. Shortly, the storm passed and we continued on our way.

Having Gods favor on your life doesnt mean you will never face a storm. Life is full of storms and troubles and hardships, but Gods favor is like a canopy that protects you from the negative and devastating effects of the storm.

YOU CAN LIVE UNDER THE CANOPY OF HIS FAVOR!

A canopy is a covering that serves as a shelter. This is the image you see in Psalm 91:1 TPT where the psalmist wrote, When you abide under the shadow of Shaddai (The Almighty) you are hidden in the strength of God Most High.”

Obviously, you must intentionally remain under His shelter if youre to enjoy its benefits. And one of those benefits is constantly experiencing His favor.

When youre living under the canopy of Gods favor, there will be visible evidence of it. Things will begin to happen in your life that dont happen for everybody else. Some people may well mistake it for luck.” But its not luck at all – its the favor of God!

One definition of Gods favor that I recently read says, Its God stepping into our situation to make a worthwhile difference.”

We see the evidence of Gods favor between Potiphar and Joseph in Genesis 39:4 which says, And Joseph found grace [favor] in [Potiphars] sight and served him, and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.”

In verses 2-6, one translation says that Potiphar, “…recognized that God was with him and saw that God was working for good in everything he did, and he became very fond of Joseph…”

Potiphar could see the evidence of Gods favor, and it resulted in preferential treatment. You could also refer to it as exceptional kindness and privilege.” This is what Im experiencing from God all the time and its not because Im so good; its because Hes so good!

You can actually live under the canopy of Gods favor every day of your life. Maybe youre asking, But how?”

First, it starts with you believing that you have a right to live under the canopy of Gods favor. If you diminish the finished work of Christ by thinking youre unworthy, its unlikely youll ever exercise your faith for it.

So, let me ask you this, Do you believe that you have a right to live under the canopy of Gods favor?” Let me encourage you to start seeing yourself the way God sees you. See yourself forgiven. See yourself free. See yourself as a child of God.

Second, you need to begin declaring it. Say this out loud right now, I have a right to live under the canopy of Gods favor.” The power of your decree is seen in Job 22:28 which states, Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee…”

What does it mean to decree a thing?” The Dictionary says to pronounce or to order with authority. Its also defined as a legally binding command.

If you keep reading the Amplified Bibles rendering of Job 22:28, it says that after you make the decision to decree, The light of Gods favor shall shine upon your ways.”

So, whats keeping you from decreeing every day that you live under the canopy of Gods favor?
