How many times have you heard the phrase, “Life is often unpredictable.” Or maybe you’ve heard it said, “You never know what’s going to happen next.” Many Christians have joined in on this theme of the unknown and even stated, “You never know what God is going to do.”
As a young Christian, when I would go to church I often heard the pastor say, “You’ll never know what God’s going to do.”
Well, that’s not entirely true. You and I can, and should, know what God is going to do. In fact, that’s what the Bible is for, to reveal the will of our Heavenly Father. And, I might add, He will never say something in His Word, and then will the opposite.
This revelation will change your life: HIS WORD IS HIS WILL!
Sadly, I’ve found that most Christians don’t spend enough time in His Word in order to know His will.
The Apostle Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, prayed, “For this cause, we also…do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding” (Colossians 1:9).
That is my prayer for you. It’s not God’s best that we remain ignorant of His will and ways. No, he wants you to know and to have confident faith, in His plan for your life.
I want to say this again, God reveals His will to you through His Word. From cover to cover, it is a revelation of His will. I often don’t know HOW God is going to deliver me, but I do know that, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD has delivered him out of them all” (Psalm 34:19). Based on this verse I’m always confident that He will deliver me!
Do you want to know God’s will? Do you desire to know what God is going to do? Then doesn’t it make good sense to spend quality time in His Word? This may “sting” a little bit, but the truth is, most Christians are just too lazy to take the time to find out what God’s Word says and what His will is for their situation. I trust that I’m not talking about you.
No, that’s not you. You are not the average Christian. You have a deep desire for God and you want to experience everything He has for you. You refuse to settle for less than ALL that Jesus paid for on the cross.
Know this: When you stand in faith, you can be assured that God is working on your behalf!
God’s will is for you to be victorious! One of my favorite scriptures has always been 1 John 5:4, For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
Writing to the believers in Rome, Paul declares, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). Did you catch that? God is always working on your behalf.
This is telling me that I don’t have to try to work all things out for good; my responsibility is to believe that He will. He has a way of arranging things and orchestrating events that you could never arrange. You must stay in faith, trusting Him and refusing to panic or give up on Him.
He’s bigger than the bad things that may be happening in your life right now, and He’s capable of turning it all around for your good.
A few years ago I went in for a routine medical check and the doctors discovered I had one major blockage in my heart and another major blockage in my neck. The doctor even said he didn’t understand how I was able to walk in for the appointment.
I was scheduled for a “simple, routine” surgery to correct the blockages but suffered a stroke during the surgery. I lost my ability to speak, control of the left side of my body, and had total memory loss. When my family was brought into the room by the doctors, I wasn’t even able to recognize who they were.
The doctors said there was nothing they could do and that I would never fully recover. But I have a wife, daughters, and friends that know God’s will! They stood and fought for my healing. While I couldn’t communicate with the doctors, I knew that if I could just get home, I would be okay.
They finally released me, and when I got home I was determined to recover and have total victory. Even though a couldn’t speak, I could still pray in the spirit. As I prayed in the spirit, the Holy Spirit began to bring things back to my remembrance. My motor control returned, and I had complete memory restoration. In a matter of a few weeks I was back out preaching around the world!
When things look impossible, when progress can’t be seen, or when another problem arises…refuse to be discouraged or to lose hope. Trust God’s Word and trust God’s will.
Don’t ever forget this truth: GOD IS A GOOD GOD, AND HE HAS GOOD PLANS FOR YOUR LIFE.
I like to say, GOD IS ALWAYS WORKING BEHIND THE SCENES ON SOMETHING GOOD FOR YOU!
Once again, you don’t always know how God is going to meet your needs, but you can know for certain that God will meet your needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).
One of the first revelations I received from the Word of God was from John 8:31. When I read, “If you will continue in my word, you will be my disciple indeed;” That word continue leapt off the page and in to my heart.
That was over fifty-two years ago, and I am still continuing in the Word today. I can’t get enough of the Word of God. I’m just as passionate about knowing God, knowing His Word, and knowing His will today as I was that first day that I began reading the Bible.
I’ve discovered the key to being a disciple is continuing in His Word. You must be consistent in reading and studying Scripture.
That’s why I’m so passionate about teaching you God’s Word and encouraging you in the things of God. I want to see you continue. I’m cheering you on to stay in the fight and not back down.
You can know with confidence that God is working on your victory right now. He is not done with you. You may not see the progress you want, but you don’t see what God sees. There is a breakthrough on the way. Keep pressing forward and stay in faith.

P.S. Don’t worry and don’t fear, because God is up to something good. I believe that, and I’m expecting it for you. You don’t ever have to question or wonder about God’s intentions towards you. No matter how long it takes, don’t give up on Him. With God on your side, how can you lose (Romans 8:31)? If you’ll just stay in faith, you’ll find that it will be worth it all.
